After the first Rikti Invasion anit-robot sentiment rose to a critical high, damaging the reputation of higher class andriods and cybornetically altered humanoids. To combat the growing negative prejudice (and falling profits), Exarch Industries created a new line of android defenders, designated the Tekk Line of Defense.

Although the Tekk defenders can work solo, their primary abilities are exhibited best in team situations. All defenders are outfitted with the latest humanoid interaction components for optimal interchange in any situation.

The idea started with a single Defenderbot, Hyperion, and the idea that if I liked the defender archetype I could easily expand en-theme. It also enables me to take any name I want by just adding Tekk to the end.

I came up with the whole Exarch/Rikti War scenario based on what I learned in the 'Earn a Cape' mission, and other assorted information given in-game, as well as some videos of the giant alien ships. I don't role play, but I enjoy coming up with backstories for each of my characters. If I were to expand on a set of characters en-theme, they needed a common beginning. At the time of creating Hyperion, my scrapper Klaus was in his early twenties, and I was learning the locations and assorted names of the enhancement stores on Talos Island, and using Exarch specifically gave me another way to tie the defenders directly to the game.

Thus far I've four Tekk heroes, and there are a few other Tekks in existance played by friends, as well as a Rogue Tekk running villain-side.
