Alexandra Carter was born into a wealthy family in the Nerva Archipelago. She was provided with the best of everything as a child, attending private schools, learning with the best computers, watched over by a highly regarded nanny. She wanted for nothing except the approval of her distant father.

As she grew older, she also grew more and more bitter about her home situation. She believed that her father was trying to buy her off and brush her aside with all the “finer things.”

One day while doing homework on a shiny new computer, she grew frustrated and smashed the CPU with her fist. Sparks flew, electricity surged, and a field of lightning, drawing power from the grid, the air, and the ground suddenly surrounded Alexandra. Her latent mutant abilities had manifested.

Eventually Alexandra became curious as to where all of the money was coming from. On one front, she thought that perhaps she could help and thereby spend more time with her father. On the other, she wanted to take out the source and damage him as he damaged her.

She found that he was the head of a mid-sized crime syndicate hiding behind Carter Imports. Alexandra made her decision then and there. She wouldn’t become an underboss. That wasn’t her style. She couldn’t take the business out by squealing to the authorities. Sending her father to jail did not sit well.

Alexandra would just have to set out on her own and hurt him through competition. She’d prove she didn’t need him.

Taking only the barest of essentials, a few clothes and a bit to eat, she began with a little petty crime. The more she stole, the more she enjoyed it, the more brazen she grew.

That is until she was stopped mid-robbery by one of Paragon’s many random superheroes. She wasn’t hurt, due to her natural mutant abilities, but she did not win. Alexandra had no way to hurt the hero, her punches and kicks connecting but doing no harm.

She immediately set out to do more damage and keep the heroes off her back. Alexandra commissioned a pair of gauntlets that transformed her electric fields into glowing red energy that could help her smash faces and break balls.

She became Ball-Breaker, one-person crime family
